Trip Itinerary:

Day 1 – Arrive to Liberia airport,  where your comfortable private vehicle, driver, and guide will all be waiting for you. We’ll make a short drive to our eco lodge located on the lower banks of Rincon de la Vieja volcano. You will be able to start the adventure the very first day instead of the usual “arrive and then do nothing” itineraries that many companies offer. We’ll go for a late afternoon hike in the national park (entrance is included) and see some of the famous bubbling, hot mud pots this area is famous for, as well as a possible nighttime wildlife viewing walk in the forest canopy.

Day 2 – After breakfast of local fresh fruit, coffee, breads and eggs we will have a full day to explore the area wit a variety of options:  the first and most strenuous option is a hike to the very summit of the crater of Rincon de la Vieja volcano. Or if you prefer something a little more laid back, either visit the hot mud baths for a spa treatment (included!) or else a horseback ride through the countryside. Stay in beautiful, wood-themed eco-lodge, tonight with full gourmet dinner included.

Day 3 – The Monteverde Cloud Forest Biological Reserve is home to some of the most diverse and magnificent jungle life in all of the Americas, including jaguars and pumas, as well as thousands of species of mammals, birds, and reptiles. It also admittedly has a lot of other travelers visiting, but we feel it is well worth coming to this amazing place. After a rugged drive to get here, we’ll first have lunch and then go for a hike through the cloud forest, a cool and lush region with ample wildlife viewing and peaceful walking. We’ll spend the night at a lodge here in preparation for tomorrow’s early departure.

Day 4 –  We will get up early for a dawn canopy walk among the treetops, when bird and animal life is most active and before the crowds arrive. Then we will spend a few hours at the famous Selvatura canopy tour, where there are a range of options you can customize to your personal preference, including:  zip lining, treetop bridge walks, butterfly and bird gardens, and even a Tarzan swing for the most adventurous!

Then after lunch, its time to head for the beaches. We will make the couple hour drive in our private, 4×4 rig and go to our favorite beach in Costa Rica, Playa Flamingo. We’ll be there in time for sunset over the Pacific Ocean, just a short distance from our upscale beach hotel where we will spend the next 2 nights.

Day 5 – There are a few included activity options today, and you’ll still have plenty of time before and after them to just lounge on the beach. Hiking, surfing lessons, and horseback rides along the beach are the 3 most popular options, and you can choose whatever you prefer and it is included with your trip; our guides know all of these activities inside and out and can give you all the details to help you decide. Costa Rica, and this peninsula in particular, is known for its beautiful beaches and the white sands of Playa Flamingo are some of the tops in the country.

Day 6 – Another full day of beach and nearby activities, including optional fishing or scuba diving excursions, an inland river tour, one of yesterday’s options (hike, horseback, surf) that you missed out on, or just relax on the beach and unwind. We will have a farewell dinner tonight of fresh seafood and an early night in. (the early night is optional, this is a beach town so there is always evening dancing and music available!)

Day 7 – After an early breakfast, we will bring you to the airport; depending on the time of your departing flight we might have time for a visit to town for last minute souvenir shopping, especially those delicious bags of fresh coffee!
