Inca Trail alternative plus Machu Picchu – Avoid all the crowds on the Inca Trail and instead spend 5 days trekking to our favorite place in Peru, the sister site to Machu Picchu called “Choquequirau” plus a visit to Machu Picchu AND a full, separate day of seeing the highlights of the Sacred Valley. This is an outstanding trek and this trip is highly recommended by KB.
MultiSport to Machu Picchu – Hike, horseback, and bike your way to Machu Picchu via a more adventurous and less touristy route, known as Inca Jungle. First we will have a few days to explore the historic Inca mountain town of Ollantaytambo, via hiking and biking and horseback riding. Then we will take a 3 day expedition from the base of a 18,000 foot glacier, down to the high Amazon jungle and then onward to Machu Picchu. This is one of our most popular trips, and for good reason.
Trekking Machu Picchu – Due to the high crowding and rigid rules, and because many already done it, we don’t offer the traditional Inca Trail route. We do, however, offer more than a dozen different trekking experiences around Machu Picchu and Ollantaytambo. These range from a simple, nearby hike for the day up to 10 day fully supported expeditions, with mules and horses carrying our food and camping gear while we do the hiking. We consider the trekking in Peru to be as scenic as anywhere in the world, as well as offering what most treks cannot – intricate Incan and pre-Incan archaeological sites to be visited along the way.
Mountain Bike Machu Picchu – We were one of the founders of the mountain bike scene in Peru and Cusco, pioneering many of the routes around Ollantaytambo and Machu Picchu. Come spend a week of downhill, shuttled riding with our awesome local guides, hitting the best trails with a heavy dose of culture along the way, and ending with a visit to Machu Picchu.
