The July 22nd and July 29th are ambitiously paced expeditions along the famed Laugavegurinn Trail, and suitable for most levels of mountain bikers, the trails are not highly technical, steep or exposed. Or make it a private, custom trip for just you and at least one other person (but we can do groups up to 15 no problem) on any date you wish.

Also includes breakfast every day of the trip as well as 3 nights hotel lodging and 3 nights of camping. Yes, Iceland is very expensive, check around. We do have small multiple person discounts available
Day 1 – Arrive to Reykjavik airport at your convenience a day or two early, the trip begins at noon on Day 1 with a half day of hiking or biking planned. In terms of when to arrive to Reykjavik, that will depend on your time availability, flight departure and arrival time options from your home city, and preferred style of travel. We recommend arriving at least 1 day earlier, to recover from your likely jet lag. Reykjavik is a small city, so no matter where you elect to stay you wont be very far from our group hotel.
By having an active first day of your trip, we are trying to give you the most value for your money and not have the usual ‘check in and get an orientation meeting’ that takes up the entire first day of most trips and needlessly adds to the cost. Thus, you should be in Reykjavik, and well rested, at noon on Day 1. We took this picture at about 2 a.m. in early August, having nearly twenty four hour sunlight is really cool ! We know a sweet mountain bike ride less than an hour outside of Reykjavkik, and we will hit it today early afternoon; time for a full lap through this bubbling mud pot, rollicking singletrack trail out near Hvergil. Full epic riding on Day 1 !
Day 2 – After an early breakfast (including the famous Icelandic Skyr yogurt), we will head out for the drive to Landmannalaugar. This is a staging area for the Laugevegur trek, and though in a very beautiful location it is a pretty crowded place. It is expansive, so there is lots of room to spread out, but there are a lot of tents, camper vans, and some park huts. They are all nature lovers, from all around the world, and it has an exciting base camp vibe. There are also some really great hikes and bike rides that we can do right from our camp, doing some exploring and then getting to bed early for our first big push tomorrow!
Day 3 – Today we begin the world famous Laugevegur Trek. After a warmup day yesterday, we will get right into the heart of Iceland trails and glaciers today with the 24km trail section (15 miles) between Landmannalaugar and Lake Alftavatn, our campsite for the night of Day 3 of our trip. (Day 2 of the actual trek).
Our company style is to have a relaxed and safe pace in general, but also provide opportunities for folks who are really looking to get a serious workout on their trip, and the length of today’s trek certainly does that. Though the terrain is beautiful with lots of gentle up and down gradients, it is not too difficult.
Bike this way as long as you wish, before returning back to our hut at Lake Alftavatn, for a well deserved dinner and good nights sleep.
Day 4 – Day four is a very long, very enjoyable day of mountain biking across, through, and over some of Iceland’s most iconic and diverse scenery. Today we will ride from Lake Afaltvan to Porsmorc. This is a long ride but there is a nice hut along the route where we can stop and rest up and have some lunch. This section of trail is our very favorite of the trip for the pure quality of the trails from a mountain bike perspective. And the best part is, it doesnt get dark so we are technically never ‘late’ arriving to camp.
Day 5 – Today we do one last 10 mile hike, from Fimmvorduhals to Skogar, this section features spectacular scenery and is some our favorite. Our mountain bikers will make this section on bike, while the trekkers will first drive to the finish at Skogar, then hike up towards the famous waterfall of , where we will all unite together to visit this special place, followed by a return to Reykjavik, our hotel, and one last dinner feast.
Day 6 – Today we have something special planned after five hard days on the bike, we are going to head up to the famous Iceland glaciers for a little fun and change of scenery; the highlight will be a zodiac boat ride through an iceberg-strewn lagoon, or you can opt for an upgrade to a SUP standup paddleboard excursion instead. Epic! Afterwards, we will load up the van for our drive back to Reykjavik and our hotel for the night as well as dinner out on the town.
Day 7 – After breakfast today, our van and driver will be made available to you to take you to the airport at any time you wish, and happy to also stop for another healthy soak in the mineral hot springs of the Blue Lagoon.
